Gaming Giant Accuses Competitor of Cloning Popular Slot Game

A major player in the Australian gaming industry, Aristocrat Leisure, has initiated legal proceedings against a rival firm, Light & Wonder. They allege that Light & Wonder has engaged in the outright duplication of their highly lucrative slot game, Dragon Link.

Aristocrat contends that Light & Wonder, in a deliberate maneuver, has sought to exploit the widespread appeal of Dragon Link, even going so far as to deceive consumers into believing the games are connected.

Central to the legal action are assertions that ex-Aristocrat personnel, now employed by Light & Wonder, breached Nevada state regulations by misappropriating proprietary data. These individuals are purported to have absconded with sensitive information regarding the internal mechanisms of Dragon Link, encompassing its mathematical framework and defining characteristics.

Aristocrat highlights striking resemblances between the games, pointing to identical gameplay elements, visual representations, payout structures, and bonus components as proof of imitation. They specifically single out Light & Wonder’s Dragon Train game, introduced in the North American market just recently, as being the brainchild of a former Aristocrat developer who was directly engaged in the creation of Dragon Link.

Light & Wonder is poised to mount a defense, characterizing the accusations as wholly unfounded. They maintain their support for their Dragon Train game, launched last year, which they assert has been among their most successful titles in terms of sales.

A representative for Light & Wonder declared: “These claims are entirely lacking in substance, and we will defend ourselves with unwavering resolve, including pursuing the dismissal of this frivolous lawsuit.”

A Netherlands football club withdrew a promotional effort showcasing their leader, which was exhibited on structures across their municipality, following a cautionary statement from the Dutch Gaming Authority (KSA) directed at the organization.
