Aristocrat Sues Rival Light & Wonder Over Alleged Slot Machine Cloning

A prominent Australian gaming corporation, Aristocrat Leisure, is initiating legal action against its rival, Light & Wonder. Aristocrat contends that Light & Wonder engaged in outright duplication of their immensely popular “Dragon Link” slot machine game, resulting in the creation of “Dragon Train.”

Aristocrat asserts that former staff members, now employed by Light & Wonder, misappropriated confidential information pertaining to “Dragon Link,” thereby breaching Nevada state regulations. They posit that Light & Wonder leveraged this internal knowledge to unfairly reproduce the game’s fundamental algorithms and attributes.

Citing the remarkable resemblances in gameplay mechanics, visual elements, payout structures, and bonus functionalities, Aristocrat maintains that this constitutes a clear instance of infringement upon their intellectual property rights. They further emphasize that a former Aristocrat game developer who contributed to “Dragon Link” is currently employed at Light & Wonder, working on the development of “Dragon Train.”

Light & Wonder, conversely, is prepared to mount a defense. They refute all allegations, characterizing the lawsuit as unfounded. They stand behind their game, “Dragon Train,” which they assert is entirely their own original creation and has achieved significant commercial success since its introduction last year.

A representative for Light & Wonder affirmed their intention to vigorously contest the lawsuit and pursue its dismissal.
