Australian Online Gambling Exodus Continues as 32Red Announces Exit

32Red is the most recent in a series of gaming firms to exit the Australian market. This development follows the government’s move to enact legislation that would essentially prohibit internet poker and casino gaming.

While the company will continue to compensate affiliates for current clients for the time being, new account creation will be halted.

Numerous well-known gaming companies, including William Hill, Vera&John, and 888, have recently departed Australia. PokerStars has also hinted that it would leave if the legislation is passed.

The legislation, which received its third reading in March, would establish a national structure prohibiting unlicensed gaming websites. Sports wagering would remain permissible. It is anticipated to take effect later this year.

Marketing collaborators have been instructed to take down promotional materials, website links, and similar elements from their online platforms. Furthermore, they’ve been requested to halt all promotional activities for 32Red offerings effective immediately.

Despite this, the law isn’t anticipated to be up for a vote until the subsequent Australian government assembly in May 2017. Therefore, Australian poker fans can still partake in the forthcoming Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) organized by PokerStars, projected to be the largest yet with an impressive $55 million in assured winnings.
