SOFTSWISS Acquires Turfsport: A Strategic Move into the African iGaming Market

A prominent iGaming software company, SOFTSWISS, has expanded its reach into the African market through a strategic acquisition of Turfsport, a dominant betting software provider in South Africa. This acquisition bolsters SOFTSWISS’s position in the region, leveraging Turfsport’s extensive network of more than 40 operators spanning sports betting, horse racing, and lottery games. Turfsport’s platform currently manages over 1.5 billion in wagers each year, showcasing its significant market share.

Turfsport’s CEO, Christian Neuberger, conveyed his excitement about the collaboration, noting their pursuit of a global ally to facilitate innovation and address the evolving needs of the iGaming sector. He views SOFTSWISS, with its agile team and rapid expansion, as the ideal partner for their aspirations.

Both entities are keen to capitalize on this partnership to engineer advanced products and solutions, empowering their customers with a competitive advantage in the dynamic African market. The fusion of Turfsport’s regional knowledge and SOFTSWISS’s global expertise forms a formidable force primed for success in South Africa and beyond.

Softswiss is aggressively entering the African market through the purchase of Turfsport, a seasoned participant in the area. This action will considerably increase their visibility and provide them with a solid foundation in this rapidly expanding market.

Andrey Starovoitov, Softswiss’s co-CEO, conveyed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, emphasizing it as a crucial move in their growth plan. He posits that Africa, mirroring the trajectory of Latin America, is set to become the next global center of expansion.

What makes this acquisition even more impactful is that Softswiss isn’t merely gaining market presence; they’re also acquiring invaluable knowledge and technology cultivated over 35 years by Turfsport. This will undoubtedly enhance their product portfolio and solidify their dedication to delivering superior solutions to their collaborators.

This maneuver by Softswiss is indicative of a broader pattern of industry leaders focusing on the burgeoning South African market. For instance, Light & Wonder ventured into the region’s regulated iGaming sector last December through a collaboration with Hollywoodbets. Likewise, Optimove is preparing for expansion in South Africa via its partnership with Amelco, revealed in October 2023.
