Boyd Gaming Restructures Executive Team for Continued Growth and Innovation

A prominent gaming corporation, Boyd Gaming, is restructuring its executive team to adapt to the dynamic market and propel its growth strategy. Their objective is to optimize their processes and introduce novel viewpoints.

Steve Thompson, a seasoned executive previously responsible for Nevada operations, is assuming the role of Chief Administrative Officer. His former position will be filled by Steve Schutte, who has been managing their Las Vegas resorts. Schutte’s responsibilities are expanding to encompass oversight of slots, dining, lodging, and essentially all aspects of Boyd Gaming’s Nevada operations.

Furthermore, Ted Bogich, who has excelled as the head of Midwest and South properties, is being promoted to Chief Operating Officer. He will now oversee all 28 Boyd properties nationwide. His purview will also include marketing, slot machine strategy, and overall corporate direction. Ward Shaw, who has effectively managed operations across Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, will succeed Bogich in his previous role.

Keith Smith, Boyd Gaming’s President and CEO, emphasized that these adjustments are crucial for maintaining a competitive edge and ensuring the company remains a dominant force in the dynamic and fiercely competitive casino industry.

Four seasoned leaders at our firm have been crucial to our achievements. By expanding their roles, we aim to fully leverage their knowledge as we prioritize sustained expansion and effectiveness throughout our operations.

Keith Thompson, a Boyd Gaming veteran since 1983, currently manages several vital departments, including procurement, operations, development, corporate citizenship, and even our equestrian and athletic ventures.

Chris Schutte contributes three decades of gaming industry expertise, while Josh Shaw boasts 25 years of experience, having held executive positions across various regions.

Blake Bogich joined Boyd Gaming in 2004 and consistently progressed within the organization, ultimately attaining his current leadership role.

These management adjustments follow Boyd Gaming’s recent financial announcement, which disclosed third-quarter earnings of $903.2 million, representing growth over the corresponding period last year. The company has been transparent about its expansion strategies, including the Fremont property development and online gaming initiatives, particularly its collaboration with FanDuel and the incorporation of Boyd Interactive.

Furthermore, the company has teamed up with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) to create the Boyd Innovation Lab, a program designed to foster innovation within Southern Nevada’s hospitality sector.
