The Empire State’s mobile sports betting industry experienced a decline in both wagering and earnings in the fourth month of the year.
The state witnessed a 14.7% decrease in player spending on mobile sports betting in April compared to the preceding month. Simultaneously, the state’s revenue also took a hit, falling by 8.9%.
Consumers placed a total of $1.39 billion (£1.13 billion/€1.32 billion) on sporting events through mobile devices in April, a drop from $1.63 billion in March.
Gross gaming revenue from mobile sports betting in April was $104.1 million, which was unchanged compared to the preceding month.
Flutter Entertainment’s FanDuel Group remained the market leader, generating $63.6 million in revenue and $599.5 million in wagers.
DraftKings came in second with $19.6 million in revenue and $327.1 million in wagers, followed by Caesars Sportsbook with $11.8 million in revenue and $215.7 million in wagers.
BetMGM followed closely behind with $5 million in revenue and $142.2 million in total wagers, followed by Rush Street Interactive with $1.8 million in revenue and $38 million in wagers.
PointsBet generated $1.5 million in revenue and $53.2 million in wagers, while WynnBet generated $518,705 in revenue and $9.4 million in player wagers, and Resorts World generated $335,808 in revenue and $5.8 million in wagers for the month.
Mobile gaming customer acquisition firm, Betting Hero, unveiled its most recent monthly data last month. The research discovered that mobile sports wagerers in New York utilize an average of 3.3 applications to place bets, compared to 2.8 in New Jersey.
Examining the operators, when asked to list as many real-money online sports betting platforms as possible, 63% of sports bettors included DraftKings on their list, marginally ahead of FanDuel’s 58%.
DraftKings was also ranked as the most favored sports betting platform by 29% of consumers, followed by FanDuel at 28%. BetMGM and Caesars completed the top four, with 12% and 10% of the vote, respectively.
