The French lottery organization, FDJ Foundation, has generously contributed €200,000 (£170,106/$204,849) to two groups aiding Ukrainian refugees in France – the Library Without Borders and the Human Development Community.
FDJ has given a €180,000 grant to the international non-profit, Library Without Borders, which will use the funds to create a mobile application for refugees. This app will be developed in collaboration with French as a Foreign Language (FLE) specialists who are proficient in Ukrainian.
The app will contain French language lessons, cultural information, and administrative details in Ukrainian. It will cover aspects such as French social customs and administrative processes necessary for accessing education or employment.
The app is currently being tested and is anticipated to be available in September.
FDJ has also contributed €20,000 to the Human Development Community, a humanitarian organization providing comprehensive assistance to Ukrainian refugees at the Noisy-le-Grand emergency center in the Paris suburbs.
Charles Lantieri, the Head and Vice Chief Executive Officer of the FDJ Group, stated, “At the beginning of the conflict, the FDJ Group made a rapid contribution of €200,000 to the Red Cross to immediately assist the Ukrainian people. Currently, we aim to aid in the long-term requirements of refugees.
“Therefore, we have chosen to support two organizations, ‘Libraries Without Borders’ and ‘Solidarity for Human Development,’ which are directly assisting Ukrainian refugees in France.”
During the past month, FDJ has declared a number of sports collaborations, including working with the Turkish Basketball Federation and Paris Saint-Germain, and acquiring the payment company Aleda.
