Flutter Entertainment Funds Research into Online Gambling Marketing and Advertising

The Responsible Gaming Council (RGC) has secured financial support from Flutter Entertainment to carry out a new investigation into marketing and advertising within the online gambling sector.

This independent examination will be conducted in stages and aims to analyze the present state of global marketing and advertising, and provide policy recommendations to address key operating markets such as Ontario, Canada and New Jersey, USA.

Researchers from the RGC’s Center for Best Practices in Gambling (CABP) will assess the findings, which have the potential for best practices in accountable marketing and advertising, and consider insights from regulators and operators to identify opportunities for quality enhancement.

The RGC stated that they aim to finalize the research project in the early months of 2024.

“This research has the potential to not only influence necessary alterations to marketing and advertising standards in Ontario, but also have a significant impact on harm minimization efforts in regions across the globe,” remarked Shelley White, CEO of the RGC.

This investigation truly demonstrates the evolution of the sector, and by collaborating with our research associates, we can enhance our efforts to safeguard players and communities, stated George Sweny, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at Flutter International.

We require a deeper comprehension of the impact of amplified marketing and advertising on all stakeholders, Sweny further emphasized.

This research will facilitate collective progress in refining our practices within crucial domains. Taking the lead is a fundamental aspect of our global Play Well strategy, and we are pleased to partner with RGC in supporting this significant research endeavor, he concluded.
